When the new year strikes, many people look back at the year that was and decide to change something in their lives. By making such resolutions, they pledge to put these bad habits behind them by establishing better ones.

Let’s take a look at some of the most popular new year’s resolutions that always seem to be hard to keep. This article will focus on three really common ones that I’m sure you’ve heard at some point or another in your life. Maybe you’ve even made one of these yourself.

How about the people who say they’ll no longer smoke cigarettes? You probably know someone who’s made this claim. Perhaps they’ve made it during the course of several years.

The sad truth is that nicotine is physically addictive, making it much harder for people to follow through with this plan than they realize.

Another popular new year’s resolution is the commitment that people make to get into shape. Whether they’re looking to lose weight or build more muscle, many people make great efforts to set off the new year on a new foot.

As a result, I always take note of the fact that the gym is more crowded than usual during the first month of the year. This can’t be a coincidence.

Another popular one is the case of the overworked person who’s looking to relax a bit more. This one doesn’t sound so bad, and it shouldn’t be too hard to pull off in theory.

In a perfect world, we’d all be able to spend less time working. Unfortunately, reality soon settles in. Whether it has to do with bills we couldn’t otherwise pay or the fact that our employers require us to put in extra time, we often find ourselves unable to follow through with this commitment.

While all of these things should be doable at some point, a lot of it all depends on timing. It’s hard to force our will upon ourselves simply because of the time of year. We can accomplish these things at any point in time, and we should never be afraid to make them happen.
