How The Magicians Of Today Came To Be
Magic finds its roots as far back as the ancient history of two of the oldest civilizations, the Egyptian and Chinese. In the olden times, one who practices the art of magic was considered a “sorcerer”, one who amuses people with his tricks or one who was considered close to the higher being. Often, these magicians walked with people in power, the likes of Pharaohs, Kings, Queens and Emperors.
With magic, the vast majority of the subjects of the empire started believing in supernatural power, giving the person in power a sense of immortality, like the Pharaoh in Egypt.
These days, magicians are no longer regarded as the invincible and frightening characters of long ago but rather as a source of enjoyment and entertainment. Their magic tricks never fail to amaze kids and adults alike who marvel at how the magic trick was done.
People’s fascination with magic starts at a very early. Nowadays, magic shows proliferate the television screen and children get to witness a magician and his magic tricks even when they are very young. Though magic seems to make the possible impossible, its principles are actually based on science.
People who are interested in becoming magicians are advised to practice a trick until it can be performed to perfection. It is only in this way that the trick crosses over from a mere trick to an illusion of reality.
One of the most famous magicians in history is Harry Houdini. Known for his almost impossible escape acts, Harry perfected picking a lock until he could do it even when his eyes were closed.
For most magicians, they could not go on an act without a mirror. The mirror serves as the magician’s eye to his work when he performs the tricks in front of an audience. As any good magician will tell you, the key to being successful is knowing exactly what your audience is focused on.
Neophytes who are just starting to learn the art are often too eager to display their tricks, but only to find out later on that they have become the joke. A word of advice: “Keep on doing the procedure in front of a mirror until it becomes second nature.”
