Ask anybody who the best actor in comedy over the past two decades and they will likely mention Jim Carrey at some point. The man rakes in millions of dollars for every movie he appears in, and there is a reason for that.

But people have a hard time settling on the actor’s best work. Everybody has a different opinion, and given the number of wildly successful films he’s been in, people have a hard time picking one.

I mean, look at the first two movies to put him on the map. There was the original Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and the Mask.

Those movies established Jim Carrey as a household name, but his career wasn’t made there. He rode those successes on to even better films that have kept him at the top of the film biz ever since.

The next film in his career was called Dumb and Dumber, and that arguably solidified his greatness. He stars as Lloyd Christmas, a lovable dimwit who, along with his friend, played by Jeff Daniels, pursues his dream woman across the country.

After that came films like Me, Myself and Irene and the Cable Guy. People either seem to love these flicks or hate them. Some actually regard these as Carreys best films. That’s totally open to interpretation.

The success of his comedy enterprises led him to seek out somewhat more substantial roles. He did star turns in some more serious movies such as Man on the Moon and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, gathering him some critical acclaim.

There are a ton more films we could go through, and hopefully there will continue to be more as the actor continues his career. But there are really too many to sum up here. You undoubtedly have your own faves that will stand the test of time.
