The craze originally was a Japanese cartoon released for kids. Monsters from another universe had come to Earth seeking help. Soon they discovered that there was a little more at stake than a game.
The first season of the cartoon had the children and their guardians fighting to defend the planet. An evil Bakugan Naga had ambitions of becoming the ultimate power in the universe by stealing the silent core and the infinity core. These existed in the center of Vestroia the home of these monsters. With these two powerful objects Naga would be all but unstoppable. It took the combined might of the Battle Brawlers and all their friends to protect Earth from this evil menace.
April 2009 marked the start of season 2- New Vestroia The Resistance. Dan, Marucho, and his friends must now join the resistance on Vestroia and battle against the evil Vexos organization. This group has started enslaving the Bakugan and forcing them to do battle. There are some new members to the team and many new and powerful monsters. The new season promises to be a hit.
The Bakugan game accompanies the anime. Players roll metal marbles onto magnetic cards that make the marbles transform into monsters. It’s marbles meets the 21st century. Children love this game, it’s even popular internationally. You can see over 9 languages the official site is translated into. It’s hard for stores to keep these toys on the shelves. A new series of Bakugan toys has been released and the S2 Bakuneon have some awesome new abilities.
The game is a combination of strategy and skill, and while simple to learn there are many indepth tactics. Children learn not only math, but learn how to plan their moves wisely. While the actual game isn’t quite as fun as it looks on the cartoon, it’s still a blast. There are many places to look for sales and cheap deals, but beware of fakes.
