All Praise to the Mullet
It is necessarily a fact that if you were awake two decades a go you know how awesome mullets are. They were at once sexy and repulsive, magnetic and curiously feminine. The old saying goes, “business in the front, party in the back”. Who could possibly forget that? Well, even if you did forget, do not worry. The Mullet is making a raging come back.
First, we need to establish that there was always a small contingent of revolutionaries holding out in the south, fighting against the swaying to and fro of the fashion; revolutionaries who for one reason or another refused and refuse to this day to give up their mullety locks. It is like they extract their super human redneck powers from it like Samson of old. It is a surprise then when we start seeing celebrities, those who are credited with being the hip and starting the hip, who wear the mullet in our day. yes.
I believe it nearly impossible but a few of you may not actually know what this fabled hairstyle looks like. The catch phrase you must know to be accepted in any mullet circle is “business in the front, party in the back.” Think about it. Imagine the sharpest MBA you can: clean suit, perfect white teeth and short, nicely parted hair. Now imagine a grungy hobo, sloppy rocker or high hippie. You put the two together keeping Mr. MBA in the front and high hippie in the back.
This unique combination of hair lengths causes some interesting styling challenges and on the same token some interesting styling opportunities. The front is hard to style much because its always so conservative and short. The back however is a different story. You can play for hours coming up with the perfect look to your liking.
If you have an mullet and are worried about practicality stop worrying now. Ponytails are a quick and easy fix for the professional on the go. For a more stylish, out of the way option, you could even braid your mullet thus creating what is called the “rat tail”. There are so many things you can do with the mullet. Never Fear.
The best part about wearing the mullet is its great social ROI (return on investment). even a quick style like the ponytail projects an aura of artsy coolness. Now if you combine that with your love of hot rods and Harleys you’ve got it all: sensitivity, depth, manliness, muscles. You’ll never know more popularity than when wearing the mullet.
As you can see there are many benefits that come with sporting the mullet. And in these drastic economic times people are searching for something that is not only cheap but powerful too. Folks, the mullet is coming back.
