A Young Boy With Tall Dreams
Bobby LaPonte is admittedly merely a child. He is 6 years of age, an only child, and resides with his family in Johns Creek, Georgia.
Although Bobby possesses giant dreams. While young in age, he is completely fixated on his fantasy to one day drive in NASCAR’s giant scene, the Sprint Cup Series.
Bobby’s goals are so big, essentially, that he frequently dreams about driving with the big fellows. According to his parents, Larry and Nancy, he even makes the sound of race cars in bed.
Larry thinks that his boy acquired his love of NASCAR while still a fetus.
“I raced the amateur track course tour for ten years,” he claimed. “When my wife was pregnant with Bobby, she would always come to watch me race and we believe that is when Bobby began his passion for racing.”
A lot like Jeff Gordon with his girl Ella, the LaPontes maintain photographs of youthful Bobby jumping in and back out his father’s auto when he was merely a baby.
Bobby might practice every day if he was able to, and he becomes that opportunity with the extensive driving year, from March until November, in the south. He and his father drive each weekend, habitually going to other states, which include Alabama, North Carolina, and Tennessee, to partake in their regional events.
This past July, Bobby participated in his first nationwide championship event. He earned a victory in his semifinal heat competition.
Bobby is swift to speak you that he drives in quarter midgets, a smaller variety of the USAC Midget Sprint autos that Cup drivers such as NASCAR’s championship point leader Tony Stewart started his career driving.
Bobby lets you understand that because he plans to follow in Stewart’s footprints and take that same path in his own racing career.
This tiny guy indeed is looking forward to fulfilling his giant NASCAR dreams, that of driving with his heroes in the years in store.
